Shay Mann is an electronic musician from Toronto. His track ‘Cloud Forest‘ is based on his experience of hiking the actual cloud forests in Costa Rica. It was December of last year (2021), and he was lucky enough in the pandemic to go there.
“It was unlike any other hike I’ve done, as your head is literally in the clouds when you reach the summit. There were multiple natural viewing points, and you are drenched in the mist, fog, which is actually just the clouds and there’s low visibility. There are only some instances where the clouds depart just enough for you to see across and you realize how high you actually are as you see tree tops and a huge valley across you. To add to that, there was a perfect wind the entire time, not too strong, not too low. It was simply the perfect temperature. The combination of all that was ethereal.“
“I tried to capture in my track, what that felt like. The album cover is also an actual picture that I took (of a friend) when we were at the furthest viewing point, on a deck overlooking the landscape.“
